It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Suzzy Yaa, aged 2, an extremely beautiful, popular and heart-warming soul and student at our Daycare & Nursery Centre for Vulnerable Children.

Suzzy fell ill over the weekend but sadly, like many other families in Oshieye, her family could not afford to access professional healthcare services, and so Suzzy received no medical treatment. It is possible that her death could have been prevented with just a little help & support, and so our profound sympathy and thoughts are with her family, who may have lost a loved one so unnecessarily.

We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks for the kindness of the many volunteers, donors and sponsors of VWA & PWA whose support touched the life of Suzzy and the many other children who we care for.

As a result of Suzzy's death, we are however proud to announce the launch of the 'Suzzy Yaa Campaign to Reduce Preventable Deaths of Young Children': a campaign designed to ensure that no other child under our charity's care is unable to access healthcare simply because they are at home and not at our centre when they fall sick. This campaign aims to raise the funds required for us to offer a 24/7 'Out of Hours Service', through which we will supply an emergency phone line and trained staff to respond to family's who need medical assistance for their children to help reduce preventable deaths.

If you would like to make a quick and simple online donation to this campaign, please visit JustGiving

Thank you.

Rest in Peace Suzzy.

With love from the VWA and PWA teams.
