Thinking about volunteering in Africa this summer?... keep on reading.

Partner West Africa (PWA), through their internal volunteering department, ‘Volunteer West Africa’, offer a variety of programmes with a huge number of projects. We are different from the mainstream volunteering organisations in that we design a bespoke placement specially for you built around your own unique knowledge, skills, talents and interests, whilst ensuring that all the programmes are based on a specific need identified by the communities we work with.

Follow the links below to take a look at the areas in which you can volunteer:

Volunteer in Africa to improve early-years education

Volunteer in Africa to prevent malaria

Volunteer in Africa to improve women’s health

Volunteer in Africa to assist vulnerable children

Volunteer in Africa to improve children’s health

Volunteer in Africa to promote cultural exchange between school students

Volunteer in Africa to monitor and evaluate projects and programmes and work on development policy

Volunteer in Africa in fundraising and journalism

If you think you have a skill that isn’t included here take a look at our multidisciplinary volunteer programme – if you’ve got a skill we need we’ll welcome you with open arms

Many of our volunteers travel solo and join the ‘PWA family’ group once they arrive. Our volunteers often comment on the feeling of ‘being at home’ whilst staying with us and enjoy getting to know their fellow volunteers through both working together on projects and relaxing together at the weekends.

Some people prefer to volunteer in groups – we often have small groups or pairs of friends who want to share the experience with someone they know…and have someone to reminisce with once they return home! Some work on projects together – as long as they both have skills that are needed on the project – where as others work on separate projects, though often still working side by side for much of the day.

We also partner with universities, colleges and other organisations to collaborate on projects, projects that meet a need here in Ghana but also fulfil a purpose at the university or college. For example, working in partnership with the International Citizens Service, PWA hosted a fantastic group of students last year to work at our Daycare & Nursery Centre for Vulnerable Children. Read about their experience here.

All in all, PWA is a great place for all volunteers this summer. But don’t take our word for it, take a look at our volunteer feedback here and photos showing what our volunteers get up to both in and outside of work.
