The Association of British Travel Agents published 5 top tips for students who recently received their A-level results and who are looking at travelling or volunteering on a gap year. In a nutshell they are:

  1. Do your research
  2. Use your skills
  3. Expect a background check
  4. Beware of orphanages
  5. Look into animal sanctuaries

Read the full press release here for all the information, then check out Partner West Africa’s volunteer programmes. All our volunteer projects are based around your skills and the needs of the charity and communities we work alongside. We don't support orphanages or work with animals and have high ethical standards in the work we carry out. We're located in the friendly village of Kokrobite, not far from the capital city of Accra and have a supportive team that feel more like family than colleagues. These reasons (and many others!) make PWA a great choice for young adults to begin their love of volunteering.
