Appeal for a Volunteer Team to Visit Africa & Help VWA Build a Children's Play Area

Date Posted: 30/04/2014
Volunteer West Africa is now appealing for a volunteer team from the international community to raise funds to visit us here in Ghana to build a children's play area for young children.
This half-term holiday, work is underway at the VWA compound in Ghana to build an additional classroom for the children who attend the Volunteer West Africa day-care centre and nursery. The facility is offered by VWA as a free service to the most vulnerable young children from the local community. In one week's time the structure should be complete and ready to provide the nursery staff and children with an improved class-room and educational environment.

Over the next 12 months, VWA will look to further develop the daycare and nursery facilities alongside our partners; Partner West Africa, Felicia Brown and the international volunteers who join our team here in Ghana. As part of this commitment, Volunteer West Africa is now appealing for a team from the international community who would be prepared to fundraise and visit us here in Ghana, for a two week period in 2015, to design and build a children's play area.

The park will sit within the VWA compound and be used by the children of the nursery during the day and by children attending VWA community events during the weekends. An area within the VWA compound has been set aside measuring 18m x 14m. The team from the international community will need to design and build the play area using local, sustainable materials and the play area must be suitable for children as young as 1 year old. The play area should incorporate African themes and achieve the highest possible safety standards.

For more information, or if you would like to apply, please contact the Volunteer West Africa Team.

Thank you.
