Volunteer West Africa Nursery's 1st PTA Meeting Held!

Date Posted: 11/06/2014
Last week Volunteer West Africa hosted its first official P.T.A meeting for the parents and staff of the VWA nursery and daycare centre in Oshieye, Ghana.

Last week Volunteer West Africa hosted its first official P.T.A meeting for the parents and staff of the VWA nursery and daycare centre in Oshieye, Ghana. The meeting was organised by the nursery Manager, Mama Felicia, and the other nursery staff, and proceedings got underway at around 8am.

The meeting provided an opportunity for VWA to show the parents and community what we have been able to achieve in developing the nursery buildings and facilities to make the nursery safe, secure and enjoyable for all of the children. We showed the parents the new classrooms we have built and we explained our future development plans for the nursery. Finally, and as a result of some very generous donations from UK supporters, we were able to showcase the nursery's snazzy, new school uniform design (of which the parents were very, very proud!).

Many parents attended the meeting and everyone was provided with an opportunity to ask questions and offer their ideas for how the nursery should operate in future. Both parents and staff showed huge gratitude to VWA volunteers and supporters, thanking our organisation for its work so far and offering prayers that we would continue with our work for many more years to come.

To add additional value to the meeting, VWA volunteers Emma Law and Victoria Bond were on-hand to distribute hundreds of items of clothing that the two girls had worked hard to collect from donors in the UK over the previous few months. Huge thanks go to everyone who donated items as, not only are there now some very well dressed and trendy little people in Oshieye now, but dozens of families will now be able to use what little income they do have without the worry, for a little time at least, of having to replace expensive children's clothes (which we all know get worn out or grown out of in no time at all!).

Thank you to everyone who helped make the meeting a success.
