Interested in Sponsoring a Vulnerable Child to Access Education?

Volunteer West Africa launches its new child sponsorship programme.

In 2013, the Oshieye children's nursery and daycare centre was established within the Volunteer West Africa compound, in Oshieye, Ghana. Since then, our team has work tirelessly with the children and families of Oshieye in order to assess the children's individual needs and to establish how best VWA and its supporters can offer assistance in future.

The children who attend the nursery are all vulnerable young children from the local community. At present, VWA provides every child at the nursery with a nutritious meal each day, clean drinking water, healthcare & medical facilities, toilet and washing facilities, and a fun, spacious and secure environment. This is all provided free of charge as part of VWA's commitment to help vulnerable West African children to access care and education.

VWA, and its sister organisation Partner West Africa, relies on donations and sponsors from the international community to help us meet the costs of maintaining the nursery. And as the numbers of children who attend the nursery has continued to increase, from around 30 to 86 at present, the costs associated with caring for the children have risen considerably.

Although we have already secured some kind individuals and families to sponsor placements for the children at the nursery, we desperately need more help. We have therefore launched a child sponsorship programme through which you can sponsor a child's placement at the nursery from as little as five pounds per month.

If you or your family would be interested in sponsoring a placement for a vulnerable child to access early years education, food and healthcare, please take a moment to read our Sponsorship Programme Brochure. If you would like to proceed, you can print and follow the instructions on the attached form or contact our team at:

We are extremely grateful to all those who have or will in future contribute to this important project. Thank you.
