Pictured (Centre) is the Ghanaian Government's Municipal Director of Education, the Honourable Mrs. Margaret Frempong-Kore, who stopped by this week to inspect VWA's charitable daycare centre for vulnerable children in Oshieye, Ghana.

Mrs. Frempong-Kore was accompanied by several colleagues from the Ghanaian Department of Education including Mr. Raymond L. Glover, Director of Finance and Administration and Ms. Moreen Lamptey - Financial Budget Officer.

The team visited VWA's free Centre for vulnerable children in order to establish first hand the work our team undertake to bathe, feed, educate and provide healthcare to 70 of the most vulnerable pre-school aged children from the local communities. The team thanked and acknowledged VWA for being able to complement government efforts in the education sector, particularly in relation to providing access to underprivileged children in the district.

The honourable visitors were received and briefed by the VWA Operations Manager, Mr. Inusah Amidu explained the services provided by the VWA daycare centre but also the many other VWA projects and programmes undertaken by VWA to support the wider communitiy.

After the Director and her team interacted with VWA staff, teachers and pupils, Mrs Frempong-Kore claimed to have been "overwhelmed by the selfless and extensive hard work of the VWA team". In recognition of this work undertaken by VWA in early years childcare and education - resulting in a reduction in child mortality rates in the local community - just hours later VWA received a formal letter of authorisation, support and an offer from the Education Department to work hand-in-hand with VWA on all future VWA childcare and education projects!

The Ghanaian Education Directorate has extended a rare but welcome hand of friendship and recognition to our NGO and our team are extremely grateful and proud.

Thanks for reading.
